Awarding of Degrees for the Completion of Programs at NIAD-QE-Approved Educational Institutions Operated by Government Ministries and Agencies in Academic Year 2020
NIAD-QE awards academic degrees (Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral) to those who have completed courses in educational institutions other than universities that are recognized by NIAD-QE as providing education equivalent to a university undergraduate program or a graduate school's master or doctoral program.
In accordance with the School Education Act, only universities and NIAD-QE are permitted to award academic degrees in Japan.
Doctoral Degrees Awarded to 18 Applicants Who Completed Programs Equivalent to a Graduate School Doctoral Program
Bachelor’s Degrees Awarded to 1,045 Applicants Who Completed Programs Equivalent to an Undergraduate Program
Master’s Degrees Awarded to 14 Applicants Expected to Complete Programs Equivalent to a Graduate School Master’s Program
Doctoral Degrees Awarded to Six Applicants Expected to Complete Programs Equivalent to a Graduate School Doctoral Program
Expert committee in the medicine/pharmacy conducted thesis reviews and oral examinations of applicants for the conferment of doctoral degrees who completed the Medical Research Course in the School of Medicine at the National Defense Medical College in September 2020.
Based on the review results, final reviews were conducted by the Committee for Validation and Examination of Degrees on Friday, February 19, 2021, and degrees were awarded to 18 applicants.

Applications for the conferment of Bachelor’s degrees were received from those who completed programs in March 2021 recognized as providing education equivalent to undergraduate education at a university. Based on reviews conducted by the Committee for Validation and Examination of Degrees, Bachelor’s degrees were awarded to 1,045 applicants.

Expert committees in the social sciences, nursing/health science/acupuncture and moxibustion, engineering/design, and fisheries conducted thesis reviews and oral examinations of applicants for the conferment of a Master’s degree who were expected to complete one of the following programs in March 2021: a Master’s-equivalent course in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at the National Defense Academy; a Master’s-equivalent course in the Graduate School of Security Studies at the National Defense Academy; a course in the Graduate School of Fisheries Science at the National Fisheries University; or a Master’s-equivalent program in the Graduate School of Nursing at the National College of Nursing, Japan.
Based on the review results, final reviews were conducted by the Committee for Validation and Examination of Degrees and degrees were awarded to 14 applicants.

Based on the review results, final reviews were conducted by the Committee for Validation and Examination of Degrees and degrees were awarded to six applicants.
