NIAD-QE established the Preparatory Office of National Information Center for Academic Recognition Japan on June 1, 2019. The purpose of this office is to set up a National Information Center (NIC), which provides information for recognition of higher education qualifications, in accordance with UNESCO’s Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education (the Tokyo Convention). NIAD-QE will proceed with the preparation of establishing this NIC in Japan within the 2019 academic year.

After establishment, it will (1) provide information on the education system and a list of higher education institutions in Japan, (2) provide information on education systems of the countries that ratified the Tokyo Convention, (3) cooperate with NICs in overseas countries, and (4) conduct various research activities.
