News: NIAD-QE Held Explanatory Meetings and Training Seminars on Certified Evaluation and Accreditation
From May to June 2017, NIAD-QE held explanatory meetings and provided training seminars on Certified Evaluation and Accreditation (CEA).

Training Seminar for Self-Assessment Personnel on CEA of Universities to be Conducted in the Academic Year 2018

Explanatory Meetings and Training Seminars of CEA of Colleges of Technology and CEA of Law Schools
NIAD-QE held a explanatory meeting (see Reference 1 below for the schedule) on the purpose, criteria, and methods of the CEA of universities that it conducts. The briefing was given for administrators, such as directors in charge of evaluations, and teaching and support staff at national, public, and private universities. A total of 137 persons from 73 institutions, including 45 national universities, 14 public universities, 13 private universities attended the meeting.
The meeting consisted of: (1) an explanation by Professor Tutiya about NIAD-QE’s CEA of universities and institutional thematic assessment; (2) an explanation by the Director of the Evaluation Support Division about application procedures; and (3) a Q&A session.

NIAD-QE held a training seminar (see Reference 2 below for the schedule; same date as the above meeting) on self-assessment methods for teaching and support staff in charge of self-assessments at national, public, and private universities planning to apply to NIAD-QE for CEA.
At total of 132 persons from 65 institutions, including 42 national universities, 13 public universities, nine private universities attended the training. The training consisted of: (1) an explanation by Specially Appointed Professor Yamamoto about assessment criteria, analysis of the types of institutional thematic assessment, and points to keep in mind when preparing a self-assessment report; (2) presentations of examples by personnel from Ochanomizu University and Osaka Prefecture University; and (3) a Q&A session.

In order to improve the effectiveness of the CEA of universities to be conducted in the academic year 2017, NIAD-QE held a training seminar on the purpose, content, and methods of evaluation for its evaluators on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. The training included: (1) opening remarks by President Fukuda; (2) various explanations, including by Professor Tutiya about NIAD-QE’s CEA of universities; and (3) a Q&A session.
In June 2017, NIAD-QE held a training seminar for evaluators on CEA of colleges of technology and a explanatory meeting on the 3rd cycle of CEA of colleges of technology to be conducted from the academic year 2018.
Also in June 2017, NIAD-QE held a explanatory meeting on CEA of law schools and a training seminar for self-assessment personnel about the CEA of law schools to be conducted in the academic year 2018.
