Master’s Degrees Awarded to 53 Learners Who Completed Programs Equivalent to a Master’s Program in Graduate School

Expert committees in the social sciences, science, nursing/health science/acupuncture and moxibustion, engineering/design, and fisheries conducted reviews (consisting of a thesis and oral examination) of applicants for the conferment of a master’s degree who had completed the following programs in March and April 2016: a master’s-equivalent course in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at the National Defense Academy; a master’s-equivalent course in the Graduate School of Security Studies at the National Defense Academy; a course in the Graduate School of Fisheries Science at the National Fisheries University; and a master’s-equivalent program in the Training Center for Nursing Development at the National College of Nursing.

Based on the review results, the Committee for Validation and Examination of Degrees, which convened on August 19, decided to award degrees to 53 people. 

NIAD-QE awards degrees to people who have completed courses in educational institutions other than universities that are recognized by NIAD-QE as providing education equivalent to a university undergraduate program or a graduate school's master or doctoral program.

Doctoral Degrees Awarded to Eight Learners Who Completed Programs Equivalent to a Doctoral Program in Graduate School


Expert committees in the social sciences, engineering, and design conducted reviews (consisting of a thesis and oral examination) of applicants for the conferment of a doctoral degree who had completed the following programs in March 2016: a doctoral-equivalent course in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at the National Defense Academy; and a doctoral-equivalent course in the Graduate School of Security Studies at the National Defense Academy.

Based on the review results, the Committee for Validation and Examination of Degrees, which convened on August 19, decided to award degrees to eight people.

NIAD-QE held a Diploma awarding ceremony at its Takebashi Office in Tokyo on September 2 to bestow Master’s degrees on 53 people and doctoral degrees on eight people who underwent and passed a review by NIAD-QE (consisting of a thesis and oral examination) out of those learners who had completed academic programs equivalent to graduate school at the National Defense University, National Fisheries University, and National College of Nursing in March and April 2016.

At the ceremony, diplomas were conveyed to representatives of each institution in the presence the persons concerned. Hideki Fukuda, President of NIAD-QE, said in his message that, “I extend my hopes for the future success of the degree recipients, and NIAD-QE will continue making efforts to ensure international recognition of our degrees.”
