Due to the growing awareness of the need of systematic evaluation schemes to assure and ensure the quality of popularized higher education, the following schemes were stipulated by laws.
Self-Assessment: The School Education Law stipulates that all universities, junior colleges, and colleges of technology must check the conditions of their own activities,discover areas of excellence or in need of improvement in achieving objectives, and strive to improve their quality.
Certified Evaluation and Accreditation : It is also mandatory for all universities, junior colleges, colleges of technology, and professional graduate schools under the School Education law.

National University Corporation Evaluation : This is a performance-based evaluation of national university corporations and inter-university research institute corporations as to their performances against their annual plans and the attainment of each mid-term goal.
