Providing Information on Quality Assurance


NIAD-UE collects and provides useful information on quality assurance in higher education through our website, publications, and holding seminars/symposia. This activity is aiming to disseminate the 'Quality Assurance Culture' into the higher education sector in Japan, as well as to contribute to the further development of internal quality assurance activities in universities and colleges.


Annual Forum

NIAD-UE annually holds the 'University Evaluation Forum' to provide an opportunity to share international practices as well as discuss among international guests, quality assurance agencies and university staff regarding the key agenda in the Japanese quality assurance system. For the past few years, the main themes covered 'enhancing internal quality assurance mechanism', 'assessing students' learning outcomes' and so on.

NIAD-UE's 'Information Package'

The Information Package is an information provision produced by NIAD-UE which provides both basic and specific information on the Japanese quality assurance system of higher education as well as some of overseas in an integrated way.

With a view to further enhancing system understanding, this package provides information that can objectively compare the system in Japan with that in overseas countries. Furthermore, this can also assist universities intending to build or strengthen international exchange activities with universities in foreign countries to understand systems in countries other than Japan.

This site opened in November 2007 aiming to providing useful information on universities' and colleges' evaluation activities and assisting in their informatization through posting their institutional information (mission, goals and plan, self-assessment reports, external evaluation reports, and/or good practices) on this site.

In addition, updated information on governmental policies/plans, future seminars/conferences, and basic information on Japanese higher education and quality assurance system are available.
