Publication: CAMPUS Asia Pilot Program Joint Monitoring Report

The establishment of Master’s programs leading to a double degree and the provision of opportunities for internships while studying abroad—these are just some of good practices seen in CAMPUS Asia, a framework for inter-university exchange. NIAD-QE conducted joint monitoring of CAMPUS Asia together with China’s Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education (HEEC) and the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE) and compiled the CAMPUS Asia Pilot Program Joint Monitoring Report in October 2016.

CAMPUS Asia began in 2011 based on an intergovernmental agreement. It aims to develop human resources who will become leaders in East Asia through international collaborative academic programs. NIAD-QE, HEEC and KCUE conducted monitoring of 10 university consortiums to support the enhancement of quality in these programs. Analyses were carried out by criteria, such as “Student Support” and “Added-value of the Collaborative Program Outcomes,” and good practices in each consortium were identified.

The number of consortiums in CAMPUS Asia increased to 17 in 2016. Looking ahead, the possibility of expanding the scope beyond Japan, China and Korea to include other countries in Asia is being eyed. This report contains a wealth of examples that could be a useful reference for universities that are planning to establish international collaborative academic programs.
