News: JNCEAA holds its 2017 training Seminar for staff members engaged in evaluation

On Monday, April 24, 2017, the Japan Network of Certified Evaluation and Accreditation Agencies (JNCEAA) held at the Japan Education Center in Tokyo its 2017 training seminar for staff members engaged in evaluation.

Certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, several certified evaluation and accreditation (CEA) agencies, including NIAD-QE, conduct CEA on universities, junior colleges, colleges of technology, and professional graduate schools.

The training seminar was organized by JNCEAA, which was established with the purpose of facilitating cooperation and the sharing of information among CEA agencies. As part of the cooperative programs among the 13 member agencies, young staff members from some of the member agencies planned and implemented the training seminar.

On the day of the seminar, an opening address from Dr. Okamoto, Chairman of JNCEAA and Vice-President of NIAD-QE, was followed by a lecture on improvement of the CEA system in university education reform, delivered by a staff member of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Also, as a new feature of the seminar this year, ‘Conversation’ (discussions) was held as an opportunity to share information and exchange opinions on matters such as each agency’s operational issues and initiatives. During the ‘Conversation’ (discussions) there was a lively exchange of views, with participants asking and answering questions on pre-set themes, such as staff member training in each agency.

With as many as 88 participants, the training seminar was an opportunity to understand the CEA system and share information on certified evaluation and accreditation.

You can learn more about JNCEAA and the results of CEA conducted by each of its member agencies by visiting JNCEAA’s website.
